St. Olav HotelIf you have chosen St. Olav's Hotel in Tallinn for a place to stay at, you can consider yourself extremely lucky! The new hotel has opened its doors in the broadest and quietest street in the Old Town. We are located at a very advantageous place: in the heart of the merchants' part of the Mediaeval Lower Town within three minutes' walking distance from Town Hall Square, practically next to the town wall from the 15th century and within five minutes' walk to the railway station. LocationThe block is surrounded by a defence wall that used to protect Archangel Michael's Convent built in the 13th century. The memory of those distant times is retained in the names of the defence towers such as Sister's Tower and Behind-the-Sisters Tower. Through a defence passage, it is possible to climb up the towers. On the site of the former church, you can now admire the Cathedral of Transfiguration - where, by the way, the subject of Peter the Great and an ancestor of the great Russian poet Pushkin, Аbraham Hannibal was wedded. The name of the street St.Olav's Hotel is located in is Lai, which means wide. In Lai Street you can also find the Museum of Applied Art, the Museum of Natural History and the Museum of Health. Right next door, there is an exclusive sweet shop of the well-known confectionary factory Kalev you can buy some marzipan as a souvenir from here. And most certainly you'd like to visit one of the most famous sacred buildings of Tallinn, St Olav's Church that dates back to the 13th century. Against the rough Gothic skyline of our marvellous Old Town, you can't help admiring the outstanding spire of St Olaf's Church - the symbol of Tallinn. In the 16th century it was one of the highest churches in the world. The church was named after Scandinavian (Norwegian) King St Olaf Haraldson. Room InfoSt.Olav's Hotel is located in a historical building. On its four floors there are 90 comfortable and beautifully designed rooms, incl Deluxe Suite, Junior Suite and Junior Suite with a sauna. In the rooms' interior finish we have used only natural and ecologically clean materials. In the interior design of the standard rooms we have used a lot of pseudo-Gothic wooden and stone details, patterned textiles and hot forged ornaments; the floors are covered with natural cork. In Deluxe rooms, the sense of plenty is created by antique furniture, curtains and handmade bedcovers. The entrances to the rooms are situated in the cosy hotel courtyard. From the windows one can see breathtaking views of the quiet cobble streets, red tile roofs or the hotel's romantic courtyard. In St.Olav's Hotel the charm of medieval fairy-tale atmosphere is combined with modern conveniences: all rooms have a bathroom or a shower cubicle, floor heating, a mini safe and a mini bar, cable television, free WiFi access, a direct dial telephone, a hair dryer, a dressing gown and slippers. |
