Experience the best of Iceland’s winter! Our new Northern Lights Exploration tours are designed to include a lot of Iceland and aim to maximize the chances of seeing the elusive Northern Lights. In addition to 7 nights of accommodations with breakfast, the program includes our special six night Northern Lights Academy – with 6 evenings of presentations, lectures and guided tours at spots likely to offer a glimpse of the Aurora Borealis – the Northern Lights. This is a fully escorted coach tour with guaranteed departures from September to April which can help you experience the winter at it‘s most Icelandic – both during the day and after dark, as you head to the countryside in West and Southeast Iceland, exploring the regions from Snæfellsnes peninsula to Vatnajökull glacier to search for the Aurora Borealis away from the big city lights.
Winter is a magical time of the year and everything is in a different kind of bloom. The air is crisp, the trees are naked and the green grass and soil forcibly frozen together. The red berries that fall on the ground at the end of summer are glued to the frozen ground covered in a thin layer of snow and the little that is left of the patches of green grass is mother nature’s own Christmas decoration. Magic is in the air.
Explore the most famous sights in South Iceland from the countryside instead of taking long drives from Reykjavík. This 8-day tour focuses on guided day excursions and explorations from only three different overnight locations in Southern Iceland. You visit the Golden Circle sites, explore the interior highlands of Landmannalaugar, the glacial valley of Þórsmörk, and the frozen wonders of Vatnajökull National Park. Your Icelandic adventure includes short walks here and there, bathing in the geothermal Blue Lagoon, climbing volcano craters, walking on glaciers, a boat trip between floating icebergs and lots of time to take pictures. With a maximum group size of 20 persons, this program includes six full days of touring, exploring and adventure in South Iceland and the interior highlands. You discover national parks, green valleys, high mountains, lunar landscapes, lava fields, waterfalls, hot springs, and glaciers. You explore Icelandic highlights and secrets. Accommodation is provided in simple and clean hotels and cabins with private facilities. Please note that in case Landmannalaugar is not accessible during May and June departures, we travel only to Þjórsárdalur valley on that day.
