Ahuset

It's not often you find a traditional country inn and a sailor's tavern under one and the same roof! But here in Åhus we've been offering food and lodging since 1735. Today we boast one of the very best restaurants in the province of Skåne - with fresh fish, caught almost literally on the doorstep, our speciality. All 15 of our charming rooms enjoy a sea view. Many a ship has found its way to Åhus Gästgivaregård over the years. At the turn of the century, it was owned by a Danish army captain turned innkeeper. During his custodianship, sailors would come from far and wide to try the innkeeper's strong liquor. Those who came from inland chose to frequent the more genteel upstairs quarters! Wake up and look out over the water and miles of sandy beaches. Excursions to the villages and coast of Österlen, the town of Kivik, apple orchard country and the Apple House, and the Stone District with its famous rocks are all available. The restaurant of the highest quality. Activities include 5 golf courses within 15 minutes, our own fishing boat, shooting, weddings, traditional eel parties, jazz evenings, and wine-tastings.

Brosarps Gastgiveri
Brosarp, Sweden
Brosarp

Welcome to Brösarps Inn, a 300 year old roadside tavern. A meeting place for the nobility, the clergy, burghers and farmers since 1684. When you enter the vestibule of the Brösarp Inn, in Österlen, Skåne, the first thing that catches your eye is a fine diploma for the best egg cake, awarded by the egg cake testers from Åstorp, Klippan, Ängelholm and Ljungbyhed. This distinguished prize is awarded every year and the dish is always to be found on the menu. - Naturally we serve many specialities from Skåne, using the raw materials from the district. We make a point of using ecologically growwn vegetables and we purchase wild boars from local breeders. We buy our fish from the harbour in Simrishamn. I spend a great deal of my time driving around and fetching home goods, states Anders Cederberg who is the managing director, and Mine Host, at the Inn. He took over the establishment at the beginning of the 1990:s and has taken a great deal of trouble to furnish the old 19th century building with rustic furniture from Skåne and with art from various Österlen painters. Anders worked as a lawyer for many years and ran a law office in Simrishamn. But for reasons of health he decided that he wanted to go over to something which did not entail so much of sitting still. Together with other participants he took over a property company which at that time owned, among other things, the old pub in Brösarp. In 1994 he took over the position of managing director and has since then expanded his business to embrace also Dalby Inn and Tjörnedala Pub. - We wanted to retain the old atmosphere of an inn: these activities have been carried out here since the 17th century. But we have also modernized the menu and we serve an internationally high class cuisine. Brösarp Inn has attracted internnational attention and has been described in the well-known German gourmet magazine Feinschmecker. Brösarp has been represented in Bästa Bord for several years now. The wine list is long and includes many interesting labels. The chief cook, Leif Forsberg, presents here an exciting menu with gourmet dishes of high class and with an influence from Skåne. One can spend the night at the inn and around Brösarp there are many stimulating places to visit. Brösarps antique market is arranged every year in February or March.

Sundby

Sundbyholm Castle from the 1640s is situated at the southern shore of Lake Mälaren. The castle and its surroundings are as beautiful in real life as in the many paintings and drawings made throughout the centuries. Prince Eugens The Old Castle is one of the most famous and reproduced estate paintings in Sweden. Sundbyholm Castle was built by the Admiral of the Navy Karl Karlsson Gyllenhielm, King Karl the Ninth son and King Gustav Vasas grandson. The Admiral was greatly respected for his modern and forward looking ideas at the time. In 1629 he established the first public elementary school nearby the castle, 200 years prior to the Swedish public school reform. Sundbyholm Castle maintains old traditions and cultures for the demanding customer. Visiting guests enter the castle on a red carpet at the main castle entrance or at the steamboat pier. Banquets, weddings and ceremonial events are saluted and guests welcomed by three cannon shots. Special features include the longest natural sand beach of Lake Mälaren, prize winning pleasure-boat harbor, first-class à la carte restaurant, wedding chapel in the cellar of the castle, and, at the northernmost beech forest, a couple of genuine old buildings from past centuries that have been completely renovated and redecorated to or beyond their former beauty. There are many things to see including The Castle, the Manor, The Coachman´s Old Quarters, The Estate Manager´s Residence, the School Museum, the 1000 year old viking rune stone, the sand beach, the pleasure-boat harbor, the beech forests, the Zoo in the nearby town of Eskilstuna (featuring white tigers and more), local glass blowing and design, and the archipelago of Lake Mälaren. The surroundings of Sundbyholm Castle offer a wide range of outdoor activities, including some exciting 1000-year old viking remains, Europes northernmost beech forest, the finest pleasure-boat harbor on Lake Mälaren as well as the Lake´s longest natural sand beach. For those seeking a more structured program of activities we recommend golf on the Sundbyholm Golf Course (18 holes within 3 km), horse-back riding, or a picnic on an electrically-powered log raft. The exquisite Castle Restaurant serves first class à la carte dishes made from local products carefully selected and prepared by the Castles Chef. Examples of popular entrees are Mushroom filled Quail served with rosemary marinated Scorzonera, and Fillet of Reindeer with chanterelle filled potato dumplings. The Castles exclusive wine cellar holds an impressive selection of wine, always guaranteeing a perfect match with the meal. Breakfasts, luncheons and dinners are all served in the Castle.
