Take An Old-fashioned Tram

The Swedish Tramway Association has run a national Tram Museum and a historic tramway in Malmköping for the past 25 years. It's a delight for adults and children alike. You can ride the trams and see historic trams and buses from all over Sweden at the

Vagnorama. Relax with a cup of coffee at the old station, where you'll also find a souvenir shop. Or bring lunch and ride a tram out to a picnic spot on a sunny day. Another tram will take you back.

The Malmahed Museum

In 1771, Gustaf Adolf von Siegroth (b. 1725 - d. 1802) became the commander of the Royal Södermaland Infantry. That same year he chose the Malma Heath to be their permanent drill-ground. In 1784 he drew up a commercial and craft-town to be. The plan was approved by the King Gustaf III but the "town" was only granted the charter of a borough. Gustaf Adolf von Siegroth was a pioneer establishing here both a field hospital and Sweden's first military academy.

The Malmahed museum takes you back to the Stone Age and describes the history of the regiment from the 19th century until it was closed down in 1921.
