A perfect way to spend a family holiday together!

The Funen landscape is as taken out of a fairy tale of Hans Christian Andersen, who was born on Funen! Villages with half-timbered houses and thatched roofs are all along the way. Ferries and bridges take you to five different islands during a week.

Hotels chosen for this tour are modern with three or four stars. Distances are not too challenging and many stages may be shortened. A tour suitable for families.

Itinerary

Settle in at the hotel in the center of town. Parking at the hotel in Svendborg is available for additional fee.

20 miles/32 km

Breakfast at the hotel. This stretch shows Sydfyn at its most beautiful and offers views over the South Fyn Archipelago. The gently undulating terrain leads you past manor houses and numerous lovely half-timbered houses.

25 miles/39 km

Breakfast at the hotel. Ferry crossing to Søby on Ærø. Take a trip round Ærø, where you can see the island life, outstanding countryside and enjoy the peace. Explore the “Fairy-tale Town” of Ærøskøbing with cobblestones and innumerable picturesque houses. The trip continues to Marstal, and the day’s leg finishes in Rudkøbing on Langeland, where you will spend the night.

15 miles/23 km

Breakfast at the hotel. The trip takes you across no fewer than three bridges, offering an impressive view of the archipelago and the sound. Perhaps you could visit Valdemar’s Castle on Tåsinge with its fascinating Trophy Museum and Museum of Toys, cycle through the “Captain’s Town” Troense with its numerous lovely well-preserved captain’s houses on Grønnegade, and then back to Svendborg.
