We have still 10 places left for our 7 days dog sledding trip to the Ship in the Ice! Discover the solar eclipse far away in the arctic on the world's only ice bound hotel ship. This is definitely a trip of a life time!

Travel through the arctic scenery with dog sleds, experience the world's only ice-bound hotel ship, stay overnight in the frozen fjord with seals and polar bear and discover the winter wonderland with modern comforts.

About 60 km northeast of Longyearbyen with the stunning Tempel Mountain as a backdrop, you will find our Ship in the ice. Accommodation on board the world’s only frozen in hotel ship gives the modern traveler a unique opportunity to explore the magnificent Arctic nature up close. Here you can experience stillness and a light that is difficult to find in other places.

Itinerary

Arrival to Longyearbyen. You can take the taxi or airport shuttle to Trapper’sHotel. After checking in to the hotel, you have good time the wander around Longyearbyen, shop for last minute items and enjoy the small arctic town. Wer ecommend that you book a table before hand in one of the many restaurants around the corner.

Accommodation in double rooms at Trapper’s Hotel

Departure with the dog sledding to ship in the ice. Our guide will meet you in the reception area at Trapper’s Hotel at 10 am. You will get a briefing before packing the personal items and heading towards the Trapper’s Station in Bolterdalen. Here you will meet all our 80 happy Alaskan Huskies eager to get on with the trip. The guide will show you how to harness dogs and how to mush your own team. Everyone will take care of their own team with guidance from the guide. You will harness, feed and look after your own dogs. You will drive over vast

valleys and through the white landscape to Tempelfjorden and enjoy expedition lunch on the way. Here at the foot of the majestic Templet Mountain lies the world’s only ice bound hotel ship ready to welcome you on board. After the adventurous day you get to sit down to enjoy 3-course dinner and fall asleep in the soft berths in double cabins.

In the morning we feed the dogs before enjoying the breakfast with fresh bread and warm coffee. After the breakfast it is time to head out to the beautiful nature in Spitsbergen. We will harness the dogs and head out to the blue glacier front.You can see the seals lying on the ice enjoying the warmth of the sun and if you are lucky you might even see the polar bear hunting on the sea ice. Dog sledging on Spitsbergen is an experience that touches your soul, with the wide open landscape and the breath-taking scenery. Only the panting of the dogs and the scraping of the sled runners against the snow break the complete silence.Expedition lunch will be served on the way. We will return to the ship later in the afternoon for some well-deserved drinks. After the dinner you can have an evening walk on the deck to stretch your legs and greet your dog team before heading to bed. 3-course dinner and accommodation at Ship in the Ice in double cabins.

Today is the big day – just cross our fingers that it is a nice weather. After tasty breakfast we will get our equipment ready for the solar eclipse. Our guides will find the best place to observe the phenomenon. We will sit down on the reindeer skin, enjoy the arctic around you and get ready for the show of the century. After the solar eclipse we will get back to the ship, sit inside the warm boat and enjoy a celebratory lunch with sparkling wine. In the afternoon we can have a walk on the ice, observe the seals and arctic nature. In the evening we will sit down around the tables for festive 4-course dinner. Now you have good time to sit and enjoy the memories and maybe share photos of the solar eclipse.

After the breakfast it is time to head out to the beautiful nature on Spitsbergen once more. We will travel further into the arctic wilderness with our dog teams and enjoy expedition lunch on the way. We will return to the ship later in the afternoon. After the long day outside it is nice to sit inside the ship, enjoy a hot drink and look over the sea ice. After a 3-course dinner you can greet your dog

team before heading to bed.

This is the last day of dog sledding so we get up early to make the most of the day.Breakfast is served from 8 am after we have feed the dogs. After the breakfast we will once more harness our teams and head out to the wilderness. Today we will drive our teams back to Trapper’s Station. Depending on the weather the guide will pick the route. Enjoy the arctic silence around you while travelling through

the vast valleys. You will enjoy expedition lunch on the way. We will arrive to Trapper’s Station later in the afternoon and take care of the tiered dogs before we will be transported back to Longyearbyen and Trapper’s Hotel. Here you can sit down in the Lounge to enjoy a beverage or two while thinking back on the trip!

Today it is time to day fair well to Spitsbergen. We hope you had a unforgettable trip and will head back home with luggage full of memories.
