Stege, Denmark

Stege is the capital of Mon Island in Sealand. The town was founded by Valdemar I in 1175. His castle is one of only two surviving medieval castles in Denmark. It was surrounded by a moat and large ramparts. Mon Museum contains archaelogical finds, medival costumes and silverware. Nearby are the famous cliffs and beaches of the Island.
