Kristiansund, Norway

The small norwegian town of Kristiansund is known to be the "town of opera" in Norway. Located on the windy west coast, the 17.000 inhabitants can trace their operatic roots back 200 years. Since 1971, they have also arranged an operafestival, which this year attracted an audience of over 10.000.

With its three islands connected by bridges and the lively harbour in its town centre, Kristiansund is both intimate and exciting.

Kristiansund is often written as Kristiansund N (N for North) in order to distuinguish this town from Kristiansand which is consequently written Kristiansand S (S for South).
