Jokkmokk, Sweden

The District of Jokkmokk is on the Arctic Circle and is Swedens next largest district in size. The total surface is 19474 km². In other words, 2/3 the size of the Netherlands, or about ten times larger than Luxembourg.

Half of this area consists of an extensive mountain region where you can get all the adventure you want. There are national parks and a number of nature reserves. Sarek, Padjelanta, Stora Sjöfallet and Muddus belong to the Laponia area, which in December 1996 UNESCO nominated one of the earths World Heritage sites. Laponia was chosen as a combined nature and cultural heritage, which is unusual.

The chance of experiencing exciting and unusual activities both as an individual and as a group are unlimited.

You live and eat well in Jokkmokk. We are known for our specialties from Lapland such as wild meats, fish and berries.

This is the heart of Lapland and it is easy and rapid to reach. Daily buses travel to the airports of Luleå and Gällivare, as well as to the train stations of Murjek, Gällivare and Boden. During the summer the inland train line also operates. In the winter buses travel the inland highways as well.
