Itinerary

Day 1
Visiting: Reykjavik
Accomodation: Icelandair Loftleidir Hotel
Arrive in Reykjavik and transfer to hotel on your own.
Day 2
Visiting: Thingvellir - Vik
Accomodation: Edda Vik Hotel
Meals: Breakfast/Dinner
Start the day with a short city sightseeing of Reykjavík. From Reykjavík head through the village of Hveragerði to explore Gullfoss, the ‘Golden Waterfall’, and the nearby Geysir hot spring area to see the famous Geysir and Strokkur, and numerous other hot springs and boiling mud pools. Continue along the south shore and stop to admire the waterfalls Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss before continuing to Dyrhólaey* nature reserve. Continue to the village of Vík. Overnight in the Vík area.
Day 3
Visiting: Kirkjubaejarklaustur - Skaftafell National Park - Hofn
Accomodation: Hofn Hotel
Meals: Breakfast/Dinner
Cross Eldhraun, the largest mass of lava ever to flow on earth, before reaching the small village Kirkjubaejarklaustur, a former site of a 12th-century Catholic convent. The tour continues over Skeioararsandur sands to Skaftafell National Park. Continue to Jokulsarlon Glacial Lagoon to see the birthplace of icebergs. Overnight in Hofn area. Hotel Hofn or similar.
Day 4
Visiting: Egilsstadir
Accomodation: Edda Me Hotel
Meals: Breakfast/Dinner
From Hofn drive through the Almannaskaro pass, stop and admire the majestic coastline and view. On to the towering mountains plunging vertically into the sea that form the magnificent East Fjords. Linger over the renowned Petra's stone collection. Overnight in Egilsstaoir area.
Day 5
Visiting: Lake Myvatn
Accomodation: Sel Hotel Myvatn
Meals: Breakfast/Dinner
Explore the empty vastness of the highland desert plateau Möðrudalsöræfi, heading to the Lake Mývatn area. Visit Námaskarð pass with its boiling mud pools and vibrant colours. Explore the natural beauty of the Lake Mývatn area, including the peculiar lava formations at Dimmuborgir, the pseudo craters at Skútustaðir and Laxá salmon river. Overnight in the Mývatn area..
Day 6
Visiting: Akureyri
Accomodation: Harpa Hotel
Meals: Breakfast
Head towards the bustling northern port of Akureyri with a stop at the magnificent Gooafoss waterfall. Akureyri boasts some of the finest timber buildings in the country, beautifully restored to their original glory. Overnight in Akureyri area. Hotel Edda or similar.
Day 7
Visiting: Borgarfjordur - Borgarnes - Selfoss
Accomodation: Hamar Icelandair Hotel
Meals: Breakfast/Dinner
Majestic mountains and narrow passes lead to Skagafjorour for an introduction of the unique Icelandic horse, with its fifth gait - the tolt. Cross the Holtavorouheioi plateau to Borgarfjorour in the beautiful Borgarnes area, stopping to admire Hraunfossar waterfall and Deildartunguhver hot spring, then continue over the breathtaking Kaldidalur mountain pass. Overnight in Selfoss area. Hotel Selfoss or similar.
Day 8
Visiting: Gullfoss Waterfall - Geysir - Reykjavik
Accomodation: Icelandair Loftleidir Hotel
Meals: Breakfast
Explore Gullfoss, the "golden waterfall", and the nearby Geyser hot spring area to see the famous Geysir and Strokkur, and numerous other hot springs and boiling mud pools. Continue to Reykjavik for overnight.
Day 9
Visiting: Reykjavik
