Itinerary

Day 1
Visiting: Bergen - Os
Accomodation: Solstrand Hotel

Pick up your rental car in Bergen and travel the short distance to your fist nights stay at Solstrand Hotel, one of the Historical Hotels of Norway. Built in 1896, the hotel is located on the edge of Bjorne Fjord not far from Bergen in a magnificent setting.

Day 2
Visiting: Os - Hardangerfjord - Ulvik - Voss
Accomodation: Fleischer's Hotel
Meals: Breakfast

A beautiful drive along the Hardanger Fjord and a diversion to Ulvik is recommended as you head towards the Fleischers Hotel in Voss. The hotel was built in 1889 in pseudo Swiss style with towers, spires, large dormers and balconies.

Day 3
Visiting: Voss - Gudvangen - Laerdal - Balestrand
Accomodation: Kvikne
Meals: Breakfast

Take a short drive to the Naeroy Fjord town of Gudvangen and on to Flam where you can take the famous Flam Mountain Railway up and back. Continue to Laerdal and visit the Wild Salmon Center. A couple of ferries across the Sogne Fjord and through Sogndal and you will be at the Kviknes Hotel, built in 1877. This world famous property overlooks the mighty Sogne Fjord.

Day 4
Visiting: Balestrand - Briksdal - Loen - Oye
Accomodation: Union Hotel
Meals: Breakfast

Take time for the ferry tour up the Fjaerlands Fjord to the Glacier Museum and glacier itself, before driving over the Gaular Mountains to Skei where you can also drive to the Briksdal Glacier for a horse and carriage ride. Continue through picturesque Olden, Loen and Stryn to Oye and the Hotel Union Øye from 1722. It is Norways oldest hotel in continual operation.

Day 5
Visiting: Oye - Geiranger - Lom
Accomodation: Fossheim Hotel
Meals: Breakfast

Continue on the scenic route to Hellesylt where you will ferry along the Geiranger Fjord to the village of Geiranger where you might make a side trip up to Troll Road before continuing through Grotli to Lom. The Fossheim Hotel was opened in 1897 and has solid timber-walled houses built in the traditional technique.

Day 6
Visiting: Lom - Lillehammer - Oslo
Accomodation: Rica Grand Hotel
Meals: Breakfast

Follow the main route today south east to Lillehammer. You may want to see the venues of the 1994 Winter Olympics as well as the interesting Maihaugen Outdoor Museum. From Lillehammer, continue south through Gjovik to Honefoss and finally Oslo and the Grand Hotel.

Visiting: Oslo
Meals: Breakfast
