Admire the Northern Lights from Myvatn

There are few areas better than North Iceland for viewing the Northern Lights.

Just below the Arctic Circle, discover the beauty and unique attractions of Lake Myvatn in winter. Immerse yourself in the nature while the Aurora Borealis dances in the clear winter skies.

There is no minimum number of participants for this tour.

Itinerary

 
Day 1     Reykjavik
Accomodation: Natura Hotel Reykjavik

Arrival in Reykjavik and transfer to your hotel on your own.

 
Day 2     Reykjavik - Akureyri - Lake Myvatn
Accomodation: Sel Hotel Myvatn
Meals: Breakfast / Dinner

Morning flight to Akureyri, the Capital of the North and transfer to your hotel. Visit the Lake Mývatn area, renowned for its beauty and geological wonders. The Northern Lights might dance around tonight, be sure to take a walk before going to sleep! Free entry to the Northern Light shelter.

 
Day 3     Lake Myvatn
Accomodation: Sel Hotel Myvatn
Meals: Breakfast / Dinner

Today you can enjoy various optional leisure activities in the area (see the list provided here below). It is ideal to end the evening with a tour to Mývatn Nature Baths for a late night relaxation in the lagoon.

Optional activities available at Lake Mývatn

Booked locally – depending on weather and road conditions.

Snowmobile: an exciting and adventurous snowmobile tour out on the frozen Lake Mývatn

Super-Jeep adventure: Different tours available, but always a superb adventure of Lake Mývatn region

Sightseeing tours: Explore the volcanic and geothermal surroundings of the lake.

Country tour: Visit a hydroelectric power station, an old turf farm, Húsavík fishing village and a Whale Museum.

Evening Northern Lights tour: When in the middle of nowhere, inhale the silence and look for Northern Lights!

Mývatn Nature Baths: A wonderful lagoon with warm and soothing waters, so beneficial to both skin and spirit.

Cross Country Skiing: Tours available for both beginners and more experienced skiers.

Ice Delights: Acitivities on the frozen lake; Bowling, cricket, skating, mini golf, go-cart and more.

 
Day 4     Lake Myvatn - Akureyri - Reykjavik
Accomodation: Natura Hotel Reykjavik
Meals: Breakfast

In the morning, you visit the town of Akureyri, the trade and cultural center of North Iceland, beautifully resting in a scenic fjord. After a short sightseeing tour, fly back to Reykjavik and check in at your hotel.

 
Day 5     Reykjavik
Meals: Breakfast

Transfer to airport on your own following breakfast.
