Imagine combining the Inland Railway, a unique journey through Sweden's pristine wilderness, and Hurtigruten, the worlds most beautiful voyage. Two jewels in the same package! The journey begins on the Inlandsbanan and goes from Dalarna in the south to Lapland in the north. Meet rich Swedish culture, impressive wilderness, peace and tranquillity. Experience the Swedish landscape in all its variety; the journey takes you through dense pine forests and on to expansive views with mountainous backdrops. From Gallivare the route continues onwards to Narvik in Norway, a very scenic train/bus ride through national parks and through Norways precipitous fjords. From Narvik the journey continues with bus to Harstad where you meet the gateway to the breathtaking and very beautiful Lofoten, mountains surrounded by the dark waters of the fjords. From Harstad start the Hurtigruten cruise liner, past narrow straits and fjords, along Norway's majestic and fascinating coastline.

Itinerary

Individual arrival in Stockholm and transfer to Hotel Nordic Sea or similar on your own.

Afternoon departure with regular train from Stockholm C station to Mora C. Transfer to hotel. Overnight stay in Best Western Hotel Mora.

Entrance to the Zorn museum and visit on Zorngarden during the morning. Afternoon departure with the Inlandsbanan from Mora Strand. (In July morning departure from Mora to Ostersund). Arrival in Ostersund in the evening. Overnight stay in Clarion Hotel Grand or similar in Ostersund.

Morning departure with the Inlandsbanan to Arvidsjaur. On the way we will stop for coffee and lunch. In the evening you have time to learn more about the Sami culture in Lappstaden. Overnight stay in hotel in Hotel Laponia in Arvidsjaur.

Afternoon departure with the Inlandsbanan to Gallivare. We stop at the Arctic Circle where you get a certificate for crossing the border. Arrival in Gallivare in the evening. From the station, there will be a late evening excursion to see the midnight sun on Dundret (until August 5). Overnight stay in hotel Grand Hotel Lapland in Gallivare.

Morning departure from Gallivare to Narvik with regular train or bus. (SJ). From Narvik bus to Harstad and arrival in the evening. Overnight stay in F2 Rica Hotel in Harstad.

Check in and early departure in Harstad at Hurtigruten, coastal express. You will experience Vesteralen and Lofoten varying landscapes. This is one of the most beautiful parts of the voyage.

Narrow straits and fertile agricultural land. This stretch passes the Polar Circle and the mythical Helgelands coast with the De Syv Sostre and Torghatten mountian ranges.

Morning arrival with Hurtigruten in Trondheim. Take the chance to experience Trondheim for a day; there are two train departures, Mittnabotaget, to Ostersund both morning and afternoon. Overnight stay in hotel in Ostersund.

In the morning you take the Inlandsbanan to Mora, arrival around lunch.. Departure from Mora to Stockholm with regular train (SJ) in the afternoon. The package ends here, homeward journey according to individual bookings.
