Slotts Hotel

The Slotts Hotel in Kalmar doesn't just have 44 unique rooms, it also has an exquisite restaurant, two conference rooms and a lounge, which has an altogether special atmosphere. We can offer everything, from conferences with associated activities to a single night's undisturbed sleep. To start the day with breakfast in the pavilion, with its nearby rose bushes, is as much appreciated as to sit snugly in the lounge with a cup of tea on a rainy autumn evening. The hotel's main building, built in 1864, was originally a private home, and the other buildings also have interesting stories to tell. One of them, for example, was one of Kalmar's first schools. All of the buildings have been carefully renovated so as to preserve their original charm and atmosphere.

The Castle Hotel is truly a home transformed into a hotel and this is shown by the care and attention given to small details and our willingness to do a little extra to make our guests feel at home.

The "Trädgården" restaurant in our pavilion is being run by two young aspiring managers, Gerry Persson and Stefan Boman. They know best how to serve up delicious food and take care of our honoured guests by giving them a truly personal service.

Location

Kalmar is a very beautiful, small town which stretches along the coast. The sea view is breathtaking, both on beautiful summer evenings and in winter when the ice glistens in the sun. Many of the old buildings have been preserved and this gives the town a special character. To stroll through the Old Town or in Kvarnholmen, which has been the town centre since the 17th century, and then out to Varvsholmen is to take a walk through history. One of Sweden´s most popular tourist destinations, ´glasriket´, the Kingdom of Crystal, is situated only twenty minutes away from Kalmar. As well as Orrefors and Kosta Boda there are many other small interesting glassworks. You can observe glassmaking, buy crystal glass at reasonable prices, or experience Hyttsill, where you combine blowing glass yourself with eating a special kind of herring that was traditionally eaten by the glass blowers.
