When you enter the vestibule of the Brösarp Inn, in Österlen, Skåne, the first thing that catches your eye is a fine diploma for the best egg cake, awarded by the egg cake testers from Åstorp, Klippan, Ängelholm and Ljungbyhed. This distinguished prize is awarded every year and the dish is always to be found on the menu. - Naturally we serve many specialities from Skåne, using the raw materials from the district. We make a point of using ecologically growwn vegetables and we purchase wild boars from local breeders. We buy our fish from the harbour in Simrishamn. I spend a great deal of my time driving around and fetching home goods, states Anders Cederberg who is the managing director, and Mine Host, at the Inn. He took over the establishment at the beginning of the 1990:s and has taken a great deal of trouble to furnish the old 19th century building with rustic furniture from Skåne and with art from various Österlen painters. Anders worked as a lawyer for many years and ran a law office in Simrishamn. But for reasons of health he decided that he wanted to go over to something which did not entail so much of sitting still. Together with other participants he took over a property company which at that time owned, among other things, the old pub in Brösarp. In 1994 he took over the position of managing director and has since then expanded his business to embrace also Dalby Inn and Tjörnedala Pub. - We wanted to retain the old atmosphere of an inn: these activities have been carried out here since the 17th century. But we have also modernized the menu and we serve an internationally high class cuisine. Brösarp Inn has attracted internnational attention and has been described in the well-known German gourmet magazine Feinschmecker. Brösarp has been represented in Bästa Bord for several years now. The wine list is long and includes many interesting labels. The chief cook, Leif Forsberg, presents here an exciting menu with gourmet dishes of high class and with an influence from Skåne. People stayed here for half a year or longer when they first moved to Stockholm. Breakfast, lunch and dinner was served and everybody had their place in the dining room. The house was considered modern at the time and 3 rooms had private bath and the rest shared along the corridor. Much of the light birch wood furniture that was made especially for the rooms is still here. The chairs in the dining room are the very same. It is not officially said but the architect Ferdinand Boberg has designed some of the furniture and it was made at the NK workshop in Nykoping. In 1954 it was turned into a hotel and taken over by the Association of Swedes living abroad (translated it comes out like that). They kept it until 1986 and made some modernizing over the years, such as putting private shower/wc in all rooms except 4. 1986 Maria Sand and her family bought the hotel and carried on with the modernization without destroying the original Jugend Style (Art Nouveau). The building was completed in 1910 and the 2 floors we have were originally made for a boarding house called Dehns Pensionat. Breakfast, served in the original art-nouveau style Breakfast Room, is included. We serve a breakfast buffet and we have a license for beer and wine for the hotel guests. We have many repeat customers, both regular business travelers and people from he film industry, artists and writers (Norman Mailer, Liv Ullman, Billie August) Hotel Esplanade combines an excellent location with the pleasure of personal service and a feeling of a home away from home. The building itself has also been restored on the outside to its former splendor.

The house was built in the first half of the 17th century, since when it has passed through the hands of a succession of interesting owners. Elite Stadshotellet Växjö is a classic hotel with contemporary comfort. The hotel has an exciting history that begins after the great fire in Växjö of 1840 when eighty farms in the city burned down and half of the population became homeless. Rebuilding plans for the city included a new town square and the residence of the county governor on the north side and the prison on the south side were demolished. The townspeople then built a beautiful town hall and an inn, designed by the architect, Theodor Ankarsvärd. In 1852 the building was completed. In 1870 another building was built on Kungsgatan, which together with the older inn, formed the Växjö Stadshotel of today. At the turn of the century the town hall was also included in the hotel and in 1906 an extension was added. During the war it was rebuilt again and this is the hotel we see today. Many are the banquets and many are the celebrated guests that have stayed here through the years. In the late 1800s there was even a column in the newspaper mentioning the most famous guests. A recurring highlight of the year was the Oskars-ball, celebrating the King's name day on the first of December. On December 22, 1921, the famous singer, Kristina Nilsson, died in the hotel after she had moved there on the suggestion of her personal physician. However, most of the guests did return in good health to the hotel they considered their second home.
