Iceland in Winter - Super Truck Expedition

4 Days / 5 locations in Iceland

To really discover Iceland in the winter, you need the suitable transportation. Prepare yourself for an amazing expedition through snow, glaciers, rivers, mountains, black sandy beaches, all this in a Super Truck. Welcome to the land where the winter darkness might light up with the spectacular Northern Lights.

Some departures in 2015 are only in French- Jan 23, Feb 6, Mar 20, and Apr 3.

Travelling off the beaten track, the guide’s expertise on the weather and road conditions is fundamental and can affect the itinerary. Expect long, adventurous but laid-back days.

Itinerary

 

Afternoon arrival in Iceland, transfer to the unique Blue Lagoon for a pleasant swim in the warm waters. Those who arrive on earlier flights but depart in the late afternoon, can combine the departure transfer with a Blue Lagoon visit. The entrance to the Blue Lagoon is not included.

Onwards to Reykjavík City for an overnight stay.

 
Day 2     Reykjavik - Hekla
Accommodation: Hekla Hotel
Meals: Breakfast / Dinner

Meet your Driver-Guide who will brief you on the day's excursion. Today you are an explorer as well as a traveller! You will either drive to the Reykjanes peninsula, boasting moonlike landscapes, dented coastline, lava fields, volcanoes and craters or to the south coast of Iceland and its black sand beaches, glaciers, waterfalls and mossy lava fields. The day ends at the charming country-hotel Hekla. There you can relax in one of the hot tubs beside the hotel, while admiring the Northern Lights dancing in the winter sky.

 
Day 3     Hekla - Gullfoss Waterfall - Geysir - Reykjavik
Accommodation: Reykjavik Natura Berjaya Hotel
Meals: Breakfast

Briefing before starting today's expedition. Visit Gullfoss waterfall, one of the most impressive in Iceland and the highly active Geysir geothermal area. Then head towards Lake Þingvallavatn (=Thingvallavatn) and Þingvellir National Park (Thingvellir). If time allows, we will enjoy some mountain adventure, crossing rivers and snow fields. Return to Reykjavik for an overnight stay.

Transfer to airport on you own for your return trip home.
