It won't be long until you find yourself standing in front of Dettifoss, Europe's mightiest waterfall, or bathing in a natural hot spring at Myvatn baths.

Adventure can be found in the extreme contrasts of geology, geothermal activity and history that this part of the country has to offer.

Day 1     Reykjavik
Accommodation: Reykjavik Natura Berjaya Hotel

Arrival Reykjavik and transfer on your own to the hotel.

Overnight stay at Hotel Reykjavík Natura.

 
Day 2     Reykjavik - Akureyri
Accommodation: Akureyri Hotel
Meals: Breakfast

In the morning get yourself ready for a flight to Akureyri, the capital of the North. From there, a transfer to your hotel is included.. The town which is located just a few kilometres from the Arctic Circle is colorful walking city with a wide range of shops, restaurants, galleries and museums. You will stay for two nights in Akureyri.

 
Day 3     Akureyri - Lake Myvatn
Accommodation: Akureyri Hotel
Meals: Breakfast

Start today with a fully guided tour, to visit all the highlights that Lake Myvatn has to offer. First visit Goðafoss waterfall on the way to Lake Mývatn. Continue to the pseudo-craters of Skútustaðagígar and from there to the mystic Dimmuborgir (Dark Castles) abounding with pillars of lava and strange formations. A stop at the warm underground river in Grjótagjá rift and a visit to the geothermal area of Hverir with boiling mud pools, steaming fumaroles and sulphur pits. Krafla volcano area is your next destination where you'll drive past the power station bearing the same name that relies on geothermal steam energy for its operation. Then you'll explore the explosion crater Víti that was formed in 1724 in the Mývatnseldar eruption and enjoy the view over Leirhnjúkur volcano. End the tour at the lovely, Mývatn Nature Baths, a relaxing visit to the completely natural swimming pool of geothermal water situated in the middle of lava fields with a great view over Lake Mývatn. Return to Akureyri in the afternoon.
