Finland Russia by Train

This tour departs daily July 13 - August 30, 2010 and on Fridays only the rest of the year.

You can start from either Helsinki or St. Petersburg or you can start in Moscow with a transfer from the airport.

Itinerary

Depart Helsinki at 5:42 pm by overnight Russian train "Tolstoy" to Moscow in First Class 2-berth compartment.

Arrive at 8:30 am and transfer to the Hotel Hilton Leningradskaja Hotel or simlar. A city sightseeing tour featuring the highlights of Moscow. The heart of the city is the Kremlin which stands on the crest of a hill above the Moskva River. It is flanked by the Red Square, which is crowned by the unique and gorgeous St. Basil's Cathedral. During the city tour we will see many ancient churches and cathedrals, some of them dating as far back as the 15th century, many of them having been restored or even built anew lately; beautiful theaters and palace museums; top modern business complexes and hotels; buildings of late Soviet architecture such as the Moscow State University and the Central Stadium in Luzhniki which hosted the 1980 Olympics. The Vorobyovy Hills, highest place in Moscow, provides a beautiful view of the city.

Optional tour: A visit to the Tretjakov Gallery. Overnight at the hotel.

Optional tour: Visit the Kremlin area and into one of its ancient cathedrals.

Kremlin is the former residence of Russian czars, an architectural ensemble of unique beauty which took shape between the 15th and 20th centuries.

Optional tour: Day excursion to Sergiev Posa, 7 hours. Lunch en route is included.

The tour ends at the railway station.

Departure for Helsinki by overnight train.

Arrive in Helsinki.
