Flåmdalen, one of the most popular tourist resorts in the country, is a narrow valley stretching from the Hardangervidda in the south, to the Aurlandsdalen Valley a branch of the Sognefjorden - in the north.

Day 1     Oslo
Accommodation: Thon Hotel Opera

Individual arrival to Oslo.

The capital of Norway is one of Europe’s fastest-growing cities. International media is constantly writing about Oslo’s innovative architecture, museums, and neighbourhoods, as well as everything that moves on the food, fashion, art, and music scenes. Over the last few years, several new quarters have been established in the city centre, with exciting new activities and attractions. The high-rise buildings in Barcode and captivating landmarks like the Opera House

and the Astrup Fearnley museum are changing the face of the city, and have now been accompanied by the Munch Museum and National Museum

 
Day 2     Oslo - Myrdal - Flam
Accommodation: Fretheim Hotel
Meals: Breakfast / Dinner

Breakfast at the hotel before departure – departure from Oslo S Centralstation –located next to the Thon Hotel Opera, a short walk. Ask front desk for directions if needed.

08.25am Train from Oslo to Myrdal on the Bergen Line.

Your train is ready for boarding 20 minutes prior to departure

The Bergen Railway is a unique experience on Northern Europe's highest-altitude railway line. One of the greatest challenges is the harsh and changeable weather. The line is exposed to deep low-pressure centers from the west, which can mean strong winds and

heavy snow for part of the year. Keeping the railway open demands great effort and technical expertise. Today, skilled workers, effective equipment, tunnels and snow tunnels make the Bergen Railway one of the safest and most comfortable ways of travelling between Oslo and Bergen. The line was voted one of the 20 best railway experiences in the world in 1999

12.58pm Arrive the small transit station Myrdal and change train, just across the platform.

1.27pm Cog railway from Myrdal to Flåm of the Flåm Railway

The train journey provides some of Norway's wildest and most magnificent scenery. On the 20 km-long train ride you can see rivers that cut through deep ravines, waterfalls cascade down the side of steep, snow-capped mountains and mountain farms cling dizzily to sheer slopes.

FLAM; Beautiful Flam is situated in the innermost part of the Aurlandsfjord, a tributary of the 204 kilometers long and up to 1308 meters deep Sognefjord. Surrounded by steep mountainsides, roaring waterfalls and deep valleys, Flam is a paradise for everyone

2.25pm Arrival Flåm and self-transfer from the railway to the white hotel located a short walk from the railway and check in for overnight.

FJORD SAUNA

Let your guests chill out after a day filled with activities in a steaming hot sauna that is centrally located at the quay in Flam. Relaxation in Fjord Sauna, refreshing dip in the Aurlandsfjord in combination with spectacular fjord and mountain scenery in a noise-free environment makes this experience outstanding!

 
Day 3     Flam - Sognefjord - Balestrand
Accommodation: Kvikne Hotel
Meals: Breakfast / Dinner

Breakfast at your hotel before you spend some time in the little village of Flåm, perhaps take a walk by the fjord before departure in the afternoon? Maybe you want to take a kayak tour or a tour with the RIB boat? Visit the Flåm railway Museum or the Flåm Panorama? Be sure to board the boat at least 20 minutes prior to set time of departure

3.30pm Express boat from Flåm to Balestrand on the King of fjords: the Sognefjord.

On the journey by express boat out the Sognefjord you will see tall, impressive mountains along the Aurlandsfjord. Out towards the sea, the scenery becomes more open and there is a teeming and varied bird life. The Sognefjord is Norway's deepest (1.309 m) and

longest (204 km) fjord.

BALESTRAND:

A traditional tourist resort beside the Sognefjord. Balestrand is noted for its magnificent scenery and pure, clean air. Located on the northern shore of the mighty Sognefjord, Balestrand is a picturesque little village. The journey to Balestrand, embracing as it does some of the vest scenery that Norway has to offer, is in itself a memorable experience. In Balestrand you can relax amid quiet, peaceful surroundings, strolling beside the fjord or rambling in the mountains. And, of course, there are plentiful opportunities for bathing and

water sports. Plus, for visitors in search of something new, thrilling tours of exploration on the Jostedal glacier.

4.55pm Arrival Balestrand and self-transfer from the pier to the hotel, a short walk from the boat. Dinner at the hotel.

 
Day 4     Balestrand - Sognefjord - Bergen
Accommodation: Hordaheimen Hotel
Meals: Breakfast

Breakfast before departure – boat departs from the same pier where you arrived yesterday.

7.50am Boat from Balestrand to Bergen on the Sognefjord

11.40an Arrival Bergen and transfer on your own to the hotel for the night. Or depart at .4.55pm and arrive Bergen 8.40pm

(On Sunday’s only late departure)

Check in at your hotel.

 
Day 5     Bergen
Meals: Breakfast
