The Norwegian Coastal Voyage travels along stretches of the Norway coast characterized by vast distances, sparse populations, dramatic scenery and an aura of camaraderie on board.

There is an air of history about the Norwegian Coastal Voyage. It has always been a part of coastal life to rely on for more than 100 years. The ships take children to their christenings, newly-weds on their honeymoons and carry milk and vegetables to remote island communities. The Norwegian Coastal Voyage is a unique combination of first-class passenger ship and working ship. The fleet comprises 13 ships, most of which were built since 1993. Enjoy a panoramic view of ever-changing, breathtaking scenery from the comfort of your ship.

There is always something happening. The ships travel at 16 knots, which means that you always have time to enjoy the journey, to make new friends and to relax and take in the wonders of this wonderful journey.

OVERVIEW

These independent arrangements give you a chance to explore a lot of Norway in a short time. You begin your journey on Scandinavian Airlines to begin feeling the Nordic lifestyle. After a few days in the old town of Bergen, you will board the Coastal Voyage for cruise sailing northbound for four nights before arriving in Tromso-capital of Arctic Norway. After an afternoon and night in Tromso, you will depart back to the USA. OR, you can choose to extend your Coastal Voyage or by visiting Oslo and other Scandinavian areas - we have lots of suggestions!

Itinerary

Overnight and breakfast at the first-class, centrally located First Marin Hotel.

Bergen is the charming and busy capital of Norway's fjord district. We recommend a stroll around the Bryggen Wharf area and the fish market. In days gone by, it was easier to travel from Bergen to the Continent by sea than it was to get to Oslo, and you can see this clearly in the city's architecture and culture. Overnight again at the First Marin Hotel.

A late check out today is requested for you as your trip aboard the Norwegian Coastal Voyage will begin this evening, however we can not guarantee that it will be available. After boarding, your cruise experience starts at 8:00 PM as you sail heading north from Bergen.

Arrive in the beautiful "Art Nouveau" town of Alesund in the morning and either disembark and see Alesund on your own or stay on board for a cruise of Geiranger Fjord or optional shore excursion (Apr 01-Sep 30 only).

Arrive in Trondheim early this morning, where you'll have ample free time to explore this historic and colorful town (or optional shore excursion). From Trondheim the ship will sail past many islands and skerries.

You pass the Arctic Circle before you are fully awake. The ship will follow the mighty Borvass Mountains on its way into Bodo (optional shore excursion). Then sail out to sea, crossing Vestfjord in the direction of the dramatic Lofoten Islands. Later in the evening, the ship will continue north through the beautiful, narrow Raftsund Strait, passing the majestic Trollfjord on the way.

The ship will call at Harstad at breakfast time. It will then continue through Vagsfjord and Malangen before starting its approach to Tromso. You will disembark in Tromso at 2:30 PM, the capital of Arctic Norway and overnight at the Rica Ishavshotel.
