Itinerary

Day 1     Longyearbyen
Meals: Dinner

The guide will meet you at your accommodation, and you will have a briefing to ensure your final preparations are in place. There will be time for last minute shopping.

Departure from Longyearbyen. We plan for an afternoon tour to familiarize ourselves with the area we will be exploring.

We will stay at Spitsbergen Travel’s comfortable Expedition Lodge, where we will be able to enjoy some modern comforts in the midst of the wilderness.

Day 2     Adventdalen
Meals: Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner

The day starts with a solid breakfast before we head out to experience the local mountains. We will explore the mountains in the inner parts of Adventdalen and the side valleys. The area offers peaks of up to 1100 metres (Skolten), with the majority at around 700 - 900m. The peaks are easily accessable and varied - from alpine descents to slower open flanks that are perfect for big swings!

In the evening we will return to the lodge for the night, and the weather, snow and our sense of adventure will help us choose the next day's slopes

Day 3     Longyearbyen
Meals: Breakfast / Lunch

We spend the whole day exploring the back country possibilities of the area, looking for the most untouched areas and the very best snow. We return to Longyearbyen at around 6:00pm.

Notes

How Demanding Is The Expedition?

Skiing in isolated areas requires a certain level of skill from the participants to ensure the expedition is conducted in a safe and secure way. All participants must be used to skiing outside of prepared slopes. The participants must only ski to their own limits and follow the guide's instructions at all times.

The daily stages will vary, and will be adjusted to the snow and weather conditions, as well as the participants’ desires and requests. We will generally be up at 700 - 1000 metres above sea level each day. We can set up round trips, and/or master several peaks during the same stage. The climbs will be at a relatively easy tempo to enjoy the surroundings and save energy for the descents. All participants must be familiar with climbing peaks with equipment.

Three days in the lodge with like-minded people gives you a fantastic opportunity for adventure. The guide will ensure that the participants experience great skiing in safety. The goal for the expedition is safe skiing which will show you Svalbard at its best. Plus, we will always be hunting for the best snow!
