The Sagas, written in medieval times, developed through the centuries to the modern literature of today of which crime novelist Arnaldur Indrithason is the crown jewel. His prized work has now been translated into 18 languages.

Day 1     Reykjavik

If you arrive early you might have time for a half day or an evening excursion, so study our tour selection and book ahead. Check in at your hotel in Reykjavík City and get yourself comfortable for your three nights stay.

 
Day 2     Reykjavik

Morning – City Walk

Private 3-4 hours walking tour with guide in Reykjavik city centre, focusing on the places of interest from Arnaldur Indrithason’s most famous books. Additionally the guide might take you to the National Library and a local bookstore.

Afternoon – free at leisure

Optional - Blue Lagoon, relaxation in unique surroundings

The Blue Lagoon is a must-see, or a “must-experience”, attraction in Iceland. This touroffers the ideal way to visit the Blue Lagoon. Scheduled departures back to Reykjavík are flexible making it possible to enjoy the lagoon on your own time.

 
Day 3     Reykjavik - Borgarfjordur - Borgarnes - Reykholt

The Icelandic Sagas and spectacular natural phenomenons

This Saga Tour takes you to the settings of the most famous events in Icelandic history where we follow in the footsteps of the Viking warrior and poet Egill Skallagrimsson and others in Borgarfjordur. We visit the Icelandic Settlement centre exhibition in Borgarnes. From there we head to Reykholt, the home of Snorri Sturluson, the most significant Nordic poet and historian of the Middle Ages, and Snorrastofa. Our next stop is Hraunfossar waterfalls and the largest hot spring in the Northern Hemisphere, Deildartunguhver.

If your flight leaves in the afternoon you might want to visit one of the numerous museums or art galleries scattered around the city.
