Day 1     New York City - Reykjavik

Day 2     Reykjavik
On Board the M/S Fram

Arrive in Reykjavik where you embark the MS Fram which is docked at the old harbor of Reykjavik, Midbakki.

Transfer to the ship is included.

 
Day 3     Grundarfjordur
On Board the M/S Fram
Meals: Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner

Grundarfjordur is the capital of the West fjords region of Iceland. Grundarfjordur lies close to the scenic Snafellsnes Peninsula and Snafellsjokull glacier. Two optional shore excursions are available or you can explore fantastic Grundarfjordur on your own.

 
Days 4 - 5     At Sea

Day 6     Igaliko
On Board the M/S Fram

The Greenland portion of your Greenland & Iceland cruise begins in Igaliko, a settlement in the ancient sea of Gardar. From the slopes above it, people enjoy the most beautiful and peaceful panorama of the country. The name Igaliko means "The Abandoned Fireplace." The Norwegian Anders Olsen started farming at Gardar in 1780 and dedicated the place to St. Nicolas, the protector of seafaring people

 
Day 7     Qaqortoq

Founded in 1775, Qaqortoq is the home town to many great Greenlandic artists which can be seen in the town as the mountain sides have sculptures carved out of them. Qaqortoq has a town square with Greenland's oldest fountain and some of the most well-preserved buildings from the country's colonial era.

 
Day 8     Qassiarsuk
On Board the M/S Fram

In Qassiarsuk, take a guided walk through the settlement. View its reconstructed farm, longhouse, and church of Viking explorer Erik the Red, who settled here in 982.

 
Day 9     Narsaq
On Board the M/S Fram

Your Greenland travel continues in Narsaq. Centrally located in a huge complex of fjords rich in seals, salmon, trout, and Minke whales. Narsaq is also very rich in minerals and you can visit a local shop exhibiting these minerals up close. Narsaq is a good place to begin your tour of southern Greenland.

 
Day 10     Ivittuut

An old mining village, Ivittuut is one of the most important mines. Ivittuut is the only place in the world where you can find "Cryolite" used for melting aluminum. This "ghost" town is located in a very beautiful location in Greenland where musk oxen can be found.

 
Day 11     Nuuk

Home to 15,000 people, capital city Nuuk-Greenlandic for "peninsula"-lies at the mouth of one of the world's largest fjord systems. See the old buildings in "Kolonihaven," the Greenland Home Rule building, and the Greenland National Museum, which houses eight 15th century mummies found in Qilakitsoq.

 
Day 12     Sisimiut
On Board the M/S Fram

Sisimiut is the second largest town in Greenland with approximately 5,200 inhabitants. The main trade is fishing, and the town accommodates a large fleet of trawlers, a shipyard and a fish factory. In Sisimiut, the southernmost of the towns on the western coast of Greenland, sleigh dogs and foxes can be found. The town name Sisimiut actually means "the fox holes." Our expedition team will be available to guide you through the different locations of the settlement. The MS Fram normally docks at the quayside in Sisimiut. After docking in Sisimiut we will experience a kayak show, which demonstrates old hunting techniques alongside the ship.

 
Day 13     At Sea

The glacier Eqip Sermia, approximately 330 ft high and 16,000 ft long, is a slow moving glacier primarily on land and safe to approach. Today you have an outstanding possibility to experience a glacier and sense the greatness of the nature. We will use the ship's tender boats to go ashore in this beautiful area near by the glacier. Passengers in relatively good physical condition will be able to hike in the area. All who want to go ashore are welcome to join us for a BBQ dinner while enjoying a terrific view over the glacier.

 
Day 14     Ilulissat
On Board the M/S Fram

Third-largest town in Greenland, Ilulissat-Greenlandic for "icebergs"-lies on Ilulissat Isfjord, added to UNESCO's World Heritage List in 2004. Enormous icebergs run aground just outside of town.

 
Day 15     Itilleq
On Board the M/S Fram
Meals: Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner

On your visit to Itilleq which is the hometown to the president of Greenland, you will visit the small homes of this community and enjoy "Greenlandic cake" and coffee and have a chance to speak with the locals. Before we leave Itilleq you will have a chance to participate in a soccer game against the locals.

 
Day 16     Kangerlussuaq - Copenhagen
Meals: Breakfast

Disembark your cruise here in Kangerlussuaq, situated in the end of the Kangerlussuaq fjord and transfer to your flight to Copenhagen. From its humble Viking origins to its current position as one of the world's premier design capitals, Copenhagen offers an experience rich in culture and tradition. Step back in time and embark on the voyages of the Vikings at the National Museum. Enjoy the blooming flowers of Tivoli Gardens and of course no visit to Copenhagen would be complete without a visit to the famous Little Mermaid statue. Culture, scenery, history - Copenhagen. The perfect end to your Greenland expedition. Overnight in Copenhagen.
