Itinerary

Arrival to Kirkenes on your own. Transfer by car/bus to your hotel in Kirkenes center.

Dinner and accommodation at Rica Arctic Hotel, centrally located or similar

Breakfast at the hotel. At 13:00 transfer from your hotel to the husky farm. You will get a short lesson how to handle the husky team – and then ready to go on your husky safari! There will be 2 persons sharing one sled – one person driving and 1 person as a passenger. Short stops enroute will be made. One of the stops will include a small picnic lunch. The tour ends at the husky farm and return transfer to your hotel at 17:00.

Later this evening get ready for the next experience of the day: hunting the northern light. Take part in viewing this amazing natural phenomenon that will leave you breathless. At 21:00 the guide will pick you up at the hotel and take you by minibus out to hunt the northern lights in the undisturbed wilderness. The knowledgeable guide will check the latest magnetic forecast and decide whether to take you towards the Russian border or in the opposite direction towards the Finnish border. Return to the hotel at 23:30.

At 13:00 departure from your hotel. A totally unforgettable experience awaits you on the frozen fjords of Kirkenes. This is your chance to catch, learn how to cook, and most important eat this mysterious creature. The Arctic King Crab is one of the most sort after meals in top restaurants, and yet here, you get to eat the best and the freshest, pulled from the fjord in front of your eyes. You all take part in helping to saw the hole in the ice and bring up the catch. You will see how the crab is prepared by your master guide, and you will be taken by snowmobile sledge (an experience in itself) to a beautiful farmhouse by the lake. It is here by a cosy log fire that your King Crab meal awaits. Although the presentation is simple, the superb, white leg meat and claws with their particular juice and naturally sweet taste make this meal in a league of its own. The tour includes transfer to and from your hotel as well as warm clothing and a helmet. Duration of the tour is 3-4 hours.

Short rest at the hotel to soak in the magnificent experience before a guide will meet you for transfer at 18:00 to go to the Snowhotel. At the Snowhotel you will be welcomed with a drink at the SnowBar, made from berries collected from surrounding hills. Afterwards it is time to make the coolest check in. During the evening a tasteful 3 course dinner will be served by the fire. The food served is charmingly traditional and locally sourced. Your guide will be available to help you prepare for the evening ahead, making sure you are as comfortable as possible. Later you will have the opportunity to walk around the Snowhotel and say hello to the reindeers wondering in the park area next to the Snowhotel – and with any luck catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights.

Accommodation at Kirkenes Snowhotel

After a night spent in a sleeping bag at the SnowHotel, sauna/showers are available for overnighters, and you will receive your “coolest certificate”. Breakfast is served between 7 and 8:30 am. Transfer back to the hotel in Kirkenes centre and pick up luggage at the hotel followed by transfer to Kirkenes Airport. Flight home on own.
