Day 2     Kilpisjarvi
Accommodation: Kilpisjarvi Holiday Center
Meals: Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner

Buffet breakfast is served in the restaurant just steps away from your chalet.

The first adventure on the agenda is snowmobiling – this is everyone’s favourite!

Meet your guide and get equipped with proper clothing and helmets and then step outdoors to “meet the machines”. A thorough briefing takes place first, to get you familiar with safety and technique. The trail of this safari takes you across the frozen Lake Kilpisjärvi, towards the Norwegian mountains.

The destination is the boundary mark of the three countries: Finland, Sweden and Norway. This snowmobile route is part of the Victoria Trail and is quite famous as H.R.H. Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden drove by snowmobile the very same route in the spring of 2005 when she inaugurated the trail bearing her name.

A stop will be made to try your luck fishing through a hole in the ice and hot beverage will be served to you during the course of the trip. Enjoy a great afternoon outdoors and learn cross-country skiing, which is the Finns’ national sport. Your guide will equip you with skis, boots and poles and teach you the basics – and off you go on a guided trek. A hot lunch of soup and sandwiches will be served by camp fire during this outing.

Then change “vehicles” and strap on a pair of snowshoes and follow your guide who will point out animal tracks and tell you about the flora and fauna of Kilpisjärvi. This is the best way to get close to nature!

Day 3     Kilpisjarvi
Accommodation: Kilpisjarvi Holiday Center
Meals: Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner

After breakfast experience a nature-based adventure in Norway where beautiful fjords meet the majestic Lyngen mountains. The adventure takes place at a ilderness centre, Camp Tamouk, which is situated “in the middle of nowhere” about 1,5 hour scenic drive from Kilpisjärvi. Here you will be driving your own dog-sledge pulled by Alaskan Huskies.

The guided trip will include learning about the fauna and geology of the area, insight into training and grooming of dogs, and the history of the legendary husky musher Leonard Seppala. The experience will provide a genuine insight into the Sami culture and history. You’ll try your hand at reindeer driving, lasso casting, and learn about the traditional Sami handicrafts and hear about their folk tales as well as about reindeer herding.

Lunch is served during the course of the day in a cosy Norwegian “lavvu” – a tepee with an open fireplace. The duration of the trip is 8 hours.
