Day 1     Beijing
Accommodation: Holiday Inn Central Plaza

Arrival in Beijing, a transfer to the Hotel Holiday Inn Central Plaza or similar. Check in. The rest of the day free

 
Day 2     Beijing
Accommodation: Holiday Inn Central Plaza

We start our Chinese adventure with a visit to the Great Wall in Badaling. Construction of the Great Wall started in the 7th century BC to protect the Chinese warrior states against invaders from the Eurasian steppe and it still stands today set against a backdrop of a stunning hilly scenery as an unprecedented testament to human endeavour. After enjoying lunch at a local restaurant we continue to the Sacred Way, a historic road flanked with statues leading to the Ming Tombs. The evening is reserved for a true gastronomic experience as we attend a Peking Duck dinner, an iconic dining ceremony, refined to perfection over centuries to fit an emperor’s table

 
Day 3     Beijing

Inextricably linked to its glorious past, yet hurtling fast towards a powerful future, Beijing is one of world’s great cities, complex and compelling with remarkable contrasts between old and new. The full-day sightseeing tour takes us the most prominent of the countless splendors of the city: impressive Tianmen Square with the Mao Mausoleum and the People’s Great Hall, the Forbidden City, the largest palatial structure the world, and the Temple of Heaven, built in the 15th century for prayers for a good harvest. During the day we take lunch at a local restaurant. In the evening we enjoy an exhilarating and colorful performance at the famous Peking Opera.

 
Day 4     Beijing - Xian
Accommodation: New Grand World Hotel
Meals: Breakfast / Lunch

After breakfast we visit the Summer Palace, the retreat of the imperial family with striking views of the Kunming Lake and beautiful buildings and courtyards charged with history. After a lunch at a local restaurant, we continue to the train station where we embark on the bullet train, which in less than five hours brings us to the ancient capital of Xian. Upon arrival we are transferred to our hotel and check-in at Hotel New Grand World or similar.

 
Day 5     Xian
Accommodation: New Grand World Hotel
Meals: Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner

Even though Xian’s glory days ended in the early 10th century, many elements of ancient Xian are still present. The morning sightseeing tour of the ancient part of the city take us to the Great City Wall and to Terracotta Warrior Museum located in a mausoleum, built in the 3rd century BC by the first Qin emperor who wanted to take his army with him to the afterlife. Following lunch at a local restaurant we continue to the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, one of the largest Buddhist pagodas in China. In in evening a special cultural treat awaits us at the Grand Theatre, where we enjoy a spectacular Tang Dynasty Show with dinner.

 
Day 6     Xian - Shanghai
Accommodation: Shanghai Zhongxianor Hotel
Meals: Breakfast / Lunch

After breakfast we go to Xian Airport and board our flight bound for Shanghai. Upon arrival in Shanghai, we visit a local restaurant for lunch. Few world cities evoke so much history, excess, glamour and mystique as Shanghai. Today the city is the boomtown of China and a pulsating symbol of the economic miracle that has transpired in China since the 1980es. The afternoon city tour takes on back in time to the Jade Buddha Temple with its two magnificent jade Buddha statues and to the Yu Gardens, dating back to the Ming dynasty. We re-emerge in the present-day at Nanjing Road with it energetic atmosphere and endless restaurants, cafes, department stores, shops and street vendors. At the end of the tour we check-in at Hotel Shanghai Zhongxiangor similar.

 
Day 7     Shanghai
Accommodation: Shanghai Zhongxianor Hotel
Meals: Breakfast

The morning is reserved for exploring more of Shanghai on own hand. An afternoon sightseeing tour commences with a visit to Pudong New Area on the eastern side of the Huangpu River with its modernist architecture and many impressive skyscrapers. We visit the Jin Mao Tower to enjoy a breath-taking view of the Shanghai metropolitan area. After that, we go to the opposite side of the Huangpu River and stroll along the Bund with its beautiful ornate colonial buildings. The later after noon takes us for a visit to the city’s most famous acrobatic show.

 
Day 8     Shanghai
Meals: Breakfast

Tour ends after breakfast with a transfer to the airport.
