Itinerary

The shuttle coach departs from the airport at 2:50 PM and arrives at 6:00 PM. Lunch will be served en route. A guide from Alta Guide service will meet you at the airport and follow the group to Karasjok. At 7:00 PM you will be treated to a get together party and a presentation about Karasjok. You will also have an opportunity to learn more about optional excursions. Dinner will be served in the hotel restaurant from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM.

You can pick up your winter clothes in Sapmi Park from 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM. At 10:00 AM, there is a two hour optional excursion to a Sami camp. Take part in traditional Sami activities; throwing lassos, driving reindeers and listen to Sami joik (chant) while you enjoya cup of coffee, tea or reindeer consommé by the fire in the lavvu.

This afternoon, you will be treated to a Christmas adventure for the whole family.

12:30 â 2:00 PM Go to the forest to get a Christmas tree! During the tour we offer warm drinks around the camp fire.

2:00 â 3:30 PM Lunch in a lavvu in the Sápmi Park; making pancakes with jam and warm sandwiches at the open fire. Coffee, tea and hot toddy is incl

5:00 PM â 7:00 PM Hunting for the Northern Lights. Transport by bus to the countryside and the Northern Lights camp where you are able to look out for the northern lights in the darkness. Karasjok is one of the best places to see the Northern Light due to the cold and stable weather. Stories will be told about the Northern lights, the Sami culture and the guide will joik, the traditional Sami singing. Incl. hot drinks.

7:00 PM â 10:00 PM Dinner in Storgammen restaurant - a Sami restaurant next to the hotel. You will be served a traditional Sami meal. Set 3 course menu.

At 10:00 AM, there is an optional 2 hour husky safari. We go by bus to the Teigmo Farm where you will be briefed on how to drive a dog sledge before we set out for a trip into the forest. Incl.hot drinks.

This afternoon, you will enjoy Christmas preparations for the whole family.

3:00 â 4:30 PM. Mrs Santaâs Christmas School. We bake and decorate gingerbreads, we make Christmas decorations, drink âgløgg❠and taste gingerbreads, sing Christmas songs and finally we decorate the Christmas tree.

4:30-5:00 Santa's track for children. The children are searching for Christmas gifts and Santaâs track in the Sápmi park.

It will be possible to visit the local church in the afternoon for the Christmas service.

This evening will we get together for a Christmas party at 6:00 PM and enjoy a traditional Norwegian Christmas buffer at 6:30 PM. Following dinner, we get together at Storgammen, the Sami restaurant, where Santa Claus comes with his reindeer and gifts.

At 10:00 AM, there is an optional 2 hour snowmobile safari where you can drive your own snowmobile along the river and up into the mountains and enjoy this amazing landscape. Children under 12 years are not permitted on this trip. There is also the option of downhill sledging for children with guides. Parents are welcome to participate in this as well.

This afternoon, we will visit the Magical Theater in Sapmi Park where you can visit the silversmith, a Sami craft store and the souvenir shop. The optional snowmobile excursion is also available at 4:00 PM. You can return your clothes before dinner.
