THE SPITSBERGEN EXPERIENCE

Focusing on the Northwest Spitsbergen National Park we will experience the extraordinary Arctic landscape, glaciers and bird cliffs. We will attempt to reach as far north as the 80th parallel – this is the only place on earth it is possible in open water.

We encourage our guests to enjoy the crisp, clean air out on deck – watch the Northern Fulmars sailing in the slipstream of the ship or join interesting landings in small boats with our expert guides who will provide an insight into the areas we visit and share some amazing local stories.

Here above the Arctic Circle we will experience the midnight sun, with long days and light nights. If we are really lucky we might just see the King of the Arctic; the Polar Bear.

Itinerary

Arrival in Longyearbyen late Thursday evening. (Monday departures slightly different)l

Transfer guide from Spitsbergen Travel will join you on the transfer to Spitsbergen Hotel and Coal Miners` Cabins, where you will stay the night.

LONGYEARBYEN & BARENTSBURG

Lunch at Spitsbergen Hotel followed by a guided sightseeing ending at the harbor. MS Nordstjernen leaves Longyearbyen and heads to Barentsburg for sightseeing and folklore show before heading out of the Isfjord and north along Prins Karls Forland.

MAGDALENEFJORDEN & NORTH-WEST CORNER

Arrive in the area first discovered by Willem Barentz in 1596. Visit to the historical and scenic Magdalenefjord.

WOODFJORDEN & LIEFDEFJORDEN

Explore the northern fjords and visit the Monaco Glacier. In favorable conditions also sail past 80°North and to Moffen, an island which is often host to walrus.

KONGSFJORDEN & NY-ÅLESUND

Visit the ‘King’s fjord’ and neighboring areas filled with Arctic peaks and glaciers. Enjoy a guided trip in Ny-Ålesund, an isolated scientific community.

Arrive Longyearbyen, for transfer to airport.
